Jeweler Examining Gemstone

How do I identify my jewelry marking?

To identify jewelry marks, look for purity stamps

like 750 for 18K gold or 925 for sterling silver), maker's marks (initials, symbols,

or names of the manufacturer), and other official hallmarks that indicate origin or date. Use a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe to find these tiny stamps, which are most commonly located on the inside of rings, the clasp of necklaces or bracelets, or the back of earrings.
